- Abstract
This article, titled "CHAIN GANG: The personalities behind one of Rome's greatest treasures," discusses the efforts to save the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. In 1742, a team of three mathematicians discovered numerous cracks in the dome and presented a report to Pope Benedict XIV. The pope sought second opinions from various experts before assigning the task of stabilizing the dome to a group of engineers. The article highlights the collaborative effort and the contributions of individuals from different backgrounds in preserving the dome.
