- Authors
Tassinari, Lamberto
- Abstract
The article offers the author's insights on Italian lexicographer John Florio, who used the pseudonym Shake-speare when he returned to London, England to become a playwright. The author relates the issues raised by Florio's pseudonym, since it was found to coincide with the name of English poet William Shakespeare. He states that Florio preferred to conceal his identity while improving the English language and culture and allowed the authorial identification of Shakespeare of Stratford.
