- Abstract
The medical and surgical treaties of the eighteenth century, allow discuss the concepts of cure for diseases prevailing at that time. Given this, it will be by the "Erário Mineral" (1735) authored by Luís Gomes Ferreira, and "Thesouro Apollineo, Galenico, Chimico, Chirurgico, Pharmaceutico" (1714) from Jean Vigier, we will discuss the procedures performed and indicated as the medical hierarchy of the period, as well the techniques and therapies used when health officials had to deal with bone fractures. We will seek highlight the conditions and resources, in the eighteenth century, were viable and recommended for regeneration and care involving one of the most important constituents of the human anatomy, the bones. As theoretical and methodological foundations, we will adopt an interdisciplinary perspective based on the History of Science and Health Sciences for so much, we will use the perspectives present in the writings of Flavio Coelho Edler and Vera Regina Marques Beltran. The research results show that health officials, the eighteenth century, had several techniques and apparatuses that, often, made possible the survival of patients with fractured limbs.
