- Abstract
We have analyzed the longitudinal momentum distribution and the polar and azimuthal angular distributions of relative momentum of 10Be coming out from the coulomb breakup reactions 208U(11Be, 10Be + n)208U and 238Pb(11Be, 10Be + n)238Pb at 63 AMeV and 72 AMeV beam energies respectively within the framework of the eikonal approximation approach. The effects of higher order multipole transitions, in particular E2 and E1-E2 interference, on these observables have been investigated. The inclusion of higher order transition effects reproduces the shape as well as the width of the measured longitudinal momentum distribution. The azimuthal angular distribution has also been reproduced more accurately by incorporating the E2 effects. The polar angular distribution, however, is found to be insensitive to these effects.
