The author comments on the approach of New Zealand Custom Service to border management in the 21st century. New Zealand Customs Service is ready to facilitate and secure commerce via the Secure Exports Scheme, the mutual recognition agreement (MRA) of its secure trade strategies with the U.S., it is currently under negotiation with Australia and Japan for similar MRA, and its cooperation in the global proliferation security initiative.
