- Abstract
Smillie (this issue) broaches the issue of going back to the roots of reinforcement sensitivity theory (RST) by using neurobiological paradigms to arrive at biologically validated measurement instruments for the revised RST constructs. Our comments here argue for an integration of cognitive and cortical aspects of approach, avoidance and conflict states and highlights the question whether there are more affective-motivational systems than just those three RST-systems.
