- Abstract
The article focuses on the chronological classification and cultural interpretation of Mesolithic and Neolithic sites in Northwestern Pontic region. It states that among the 60 Mesolithic sites discovered, only 3 localities were excavated such as Mirnoe, Sarateny, and Zaliznichoe. On the other hand, 20 Neolithic sites which include Savran, Girzhevo, and Gard have been generated. It notes that the latter sites are located in the Yuzhny Bug basin, while the former sites are situated between the Danube and Dniester. It notes that during Mesolithic and Paleolithic period, there were two cultures existed such as the Grebeniki culture and Kukrek culture. It concludes that the two are similar since they were formed based from autochthonous Final Paleolithic technocomplexes.
