- Authors
Stigall, Joshua J.
- Abstract
The article explores the characterization of the Physician in the "The Physician's Tale," one of the "Canterbury Tales" written by English author Geoffrey Chaucer. It examines how in the "General Prologue," the Physician's misinterpretation of his sources shows him as one whose story is suspect. Chaucer's description of the Physician when read in light of the Sermon on the Mount, a collection of teachings from Jesus Christ in the New Testament, is provided.
