- Title
City of New York v. Verizon New York, Inc.
- Authors
LEIGH, MICHAEL T.
- Abstract
The article discusses the court case City of New York v. Verizon New York, Inc. wherein the Supreme Court of New York examined whether Verizon had the proper authority to use city streets and whether it adequately and reasonably compensated the city. The article argues that the legal standard set by the Transportation Corporations Law (TCL) section 27 has undermined the principle that city streets belong to the people and occupation of such must comply with public interests.
