- Title
How Many of These Are Anti-Union Practices? A US Perspective.
- Authors
Strauss, George
- Abstract
The article examines whether certain activities by a firm's management can necessarily be labeled anti-union. In many instances whether corporate acts help or hurt a labor union never factor into the decision-making process. Four cases are presented including those involving events at the Sydney, Australia Water Board, Imperial Chemical Industries, Australian gold mines in the early 1900s, and Rio Tinto. The author concludes that management actions frequently have multiple motivations, and that it is difficult to distinguish between those that are clearly anti-union and those that aren't.
