- Abstract
This article discusses a rare case of dual gastric and colonic erosion of a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band (LAGB) that formed a gastrocolic fistula. The patient, a 51-year-old woman, presented with abdominal pain and diarrhea and was found to have plastic tubing from the gastric band eroding into her transverse colon. Further evaluation revealed that the band itself had also eroded into the stomach. The patient underwent surgery to remove the gastric band and experienced complications post-operatively, including a surgical site infection. The article emphasizes the rarity of this complication and highlights the importance of early detection and removal of the device.
