- Abstract
I Bipolar Disorders i recently published two systematic reviews on repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for bipolar disorder.[[1]] However, it is unclear whether rTMS treated mania effectively because the results of the randomized trials included in the systematic reviews were not robust owing to small sample sizes. Furthermore, in this subgroup, R-HF-rTMS outperformed the sham on the Clinical Global Impressions score and remission rate without considerable heterogeneity (Table S4). In a subgroup analysis that included studies that used %motor threshold (%MT = 110%), R-HF-rTMS outperformed the sham in the primary outcome, and the considerable heterogeneity disappeared.
