- Abstract
The article examines the relationship between social science and the law under the 2011 amendments to the Family Law Act (FLA) of 1975. It discusses the meaning of family violence in the FLA Act described in reference to the American typology literature and discusses various court cases interpreting conflicts of family violence under the typology literature in the Australian legal system. It analyzes the influence of the Final Report of the Australian Law Reform Commission on the family laws.
