- Title
THE ACT THAT DARES NOT SPEAK ITS NAME: THE NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS CONSULTATION REPORT'S PARALLEL ROADS TO HUMAN RIGHTS REFORM.
- Authors
Santow, Edward
- Abstract
The article focuses on the two sets of recommendations of the Australian National Human Rights Consultation Committee's (NHRCC) Report for human rights law reform. It addresses the connection between the report's proposal for a Human Rights Act (HRA) and the second set of so-called "parallel" recommendations proposed by NHRCC to amend existing laws. It concludes that even if the parallel recommendations were enforced, they would generate what it calls an ersatz HRA.
