- Abstract
The article discusses a court case wherein the plaintiffs filed a suit against Memphis Light, Gas & Water Division (MLGW) for double billing that arose when they bought a house in Tennessee, leading to the termination of their utilities for nonpayment of bill. The court held that due process requires advance notice of termination given the existence of bona fide dispute and property interest. The significant use of smart grid technology on termination of utility services is presented.
