- Abstract
This article analyzes the way time and its philosophical and theological repercussions are characterized in two essays present in Jorge Luis Borges' Otras inquisiciones: El tiempo y J.W. Dunne and Nueva refutación del tiempo. The first one explores the problem of the self-referential capacity of the self. The second one is centered on the relationship between the subject and time, as well as on the possibilities of self-conscience. Both essays discuss the modern conceptions of time, with Borges' characteristic irony and verbal flare, and contrast the principles of rationalism and idealism with the intuitions that are typical of hinduism.
