- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the beliefs of Taiwanese and Taiwanese-Americans' perceptions of early intervention services for students with disabilities. This study included 92 participants (Taiwanese (n = 50) and Taiwanese-Americans (n = 42)]. Contrary to the literature, both groups of Taiwanese and Taiwanese-Americans tended to have similar ratings on questions regarding early intervention services provision. Overall findings indicated cultural variations do not have a large effect on the beliefs about early intervention services among Taiwanese and Taiwanese-Americans. Nevertheless, significant differences between groups were found with regard to the use and effectiveness of early intervention services particularly at home. Future research should take into account traditional cultural values, attitudes, and occupations particular to each of the groups under investigation.
