- Title
EXILED FROM EDUCATION: PLYLER V. DOE'S IMPACT ON THE CONSTITUTIONALITY OF LONG-TERM SUSPENSIONS AND EXPULSIONS.
- Authors
Bitner, Robyn K.
- Abstract
The article discusses the impact that the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the 1982 Texas state education law case Plyler v. Doe is having on the constitutionality of long-term school-related suspensions and expulsions in America as of 2015. Federal rights to education in the U.S. are mentioned, along with state rights and the claim that low-quality alternative education programs violate students' potential rights of equal access to basic education. American federal courts are also examined.
