- Title
Employment Remains Robust for New Nurses.
- Abstract
This article focuses on nurses' employment in the U.S. Nearly 90 percent of the nation's newly licensed registered nurses have found employment within 3 months of graduation, with 64 percent finding jobs before graduating from nursing programs, according to a new survey conducted by the National League for Nursing's Division of Research. The survey results also indicate a shift in employment from hospital settings toward long-term care and community-based sites. In 1992, 5 percent of the respondents were employed in nursing homes, while in 1994 the number increased to 11 percent.
