- Abstract
The article focuses on a study that examines the peculiarities of the composition of zoned picroilmenites of kimberlites from Massadou field in Guinea and in Dachnaya pipe in Russia. It claims that picroilmenites from kimberlites have possessed a quite complicated composition of solid solution between ilmenite, geikielite and hematite components. Results provide further assumptions that the interaction between the initial iron-rich material and kimberlitic melt is one of the ways of the formation of paramagnetic picroilmenite in kimberlite and has demonstrated similar zonation and similar characteristics of chemical composition variations of the central and marginal parts.
