- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 61-year-old female who presented with lower back pain for the previous five days, with a medical history of asthma, hypertension, and bipolar disorder, diagnosed with chronic salicylate toxicity. Serum alkalinization is the first-line treatment for chronic aspirin toxicity as urine alkalinization enhances the elimination of salicylate. The increase in urine pH keeps aspirin in the ionized, nonreabsorbable state.
