- Abstract
The article discusses the case of a 55-year-old man presenting with a left foot drop, a bulge on the lateral side of his left leg, and a worsening rash on the scalp, chest, neck, and hands. Physical and laboratory evaluations resulted in a diagnosis of a combination of rhabdomyolysis and dermatomyositis, both statin-induced. The case demonstrates that serious side effects from statins are rare, but do occur. The patient was also diagnosed with and treated for left leg compartment syndrome.
