- Authors
Ostapchuk, Victor
- Abstract
The article investigates the foreign policy espoused by Cossack leader Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky, with specific focus given to his dealings with the Ottoman Empire and its various political officials. To a certain extent, emphasis is given to Khmelnytsky's relationship with Ramażān Beg and Velī Beg, both governors of the same Ottoman territory, during a Ukrainian uprising within the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, a chief rival of the Ottoman Empire on the European continent. Diplomatic correspondence sent between these figures is documented by the author.
