- Abstract
The article discusses the Chicago Light Artillery militia company's actions in the Battle of Shiloh, in Tennessee, during the U.S. Civil War. More broadly, the author is concerned with Chicago, Illinois' experiences with the conflict, with emphasis given to the raising and drilling of local militias and volunteer troops. The author provides an in-depth description of artillery operations and other military maneuvers during the battle. More specifically, the operations of various military batteries during the engagement are detailed by the author.
