- Abstract
Purpose: This article provides a snapshot of how industry leaders currently conceptualize our identities and relationships, as well as some of the challenges we continue to face as a profession. Method: This study used a modified Delphi method. To gather data, we used two sets of survey questions and two structured interviews. Results: Technical communicators are functioning as agile, adaptable, and multispecialists in a broad range of organizational functions. They have become increasingly visible and valuable assets throughout a project lifecycle, and in many cases are able to define their own roles, which include team leadership and management responsibilities. Conclusion: Technical communicators continue to serve in core functional responsibilities in a wide range of industries.
