A study of readers of the Palatka (Fla.) Daily News finds that readers preferred modular ad layout to traditional "half-pyramid" structure by nearly 2-to-1. Further, there was no significant difference in the readers' attentiveness to ads placed either in the half-pyramid, next to editorial copy, or buried in a modular layout.
