- Abstract
This article provides an overview of the Troubled Teen Industry, a network of privately run facilities that claim to help troubled youths. It highlights instances of abuse and exploitation within these facilities and argues for government oversight and regulation to prevent such abuses. The article also examines the legal framework surrounding the industry, including parents' rights, children's rights, and consumer protection. It emphasizes the need for stricter regulations and protection for vulnerable youth in these facilities. Survivors of these programs have used social media platforms to share their stories and expose the abuse they endured, leading to calls for reform and increased regulation. The article concludes by discussing proposed legislation aimed at protecting the rights of youth in these facilities.
