- Abstract
This letter responds to a recent article on the post-mortem detection of biomarkers for diagnosing traumatic brain injury. The authors commend the research for its comprehensive study of nine biomarkers and its potential to expand diagnosis. However, they raise concerns about the forensic applicability of the research, particularly regarding the rise of biomarkers in immediate deaths and the use of urine for detection. They also question the practical relevance of a decrease in serum pro-BDNF and note that elevated S100B levels may be influenced by other musculoskeletal injuries. The authors suggest that considering these issues can enhance the applicability of the research in clinical and forensic practice.
