- Title
Materials chemistry: A magnetic facelift for non-magnetic metals.
- Authors
Raman, Karthik V.; Moodera, Jagadeesh S.
- Abstract
The article discusses research by Fatma Al Ma’Mari and colleagues, reported in the current issue, on magnetization of the non-magnetic metals copper and manganese in relation to the pre-existing theory of ferromagnetism as developed by 20th-century physicist Edmund Clifton Stoner. Topics include electron energy exchange, buckyball molecules, low-energy muon spin rotation, and the relationship between magnetic properties and temperature.
