Abstract
The article focuses on the criminal and civil claims settlement agreed to pay by Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to the U.S. authorities worth three billion U.S. dollars. It states that a sham consulting fees and other payments were lavished by GCK to some doctors and academics as a way to encourage them to prescribe drugs for off-label uses. It says that the public trust was the biggest victim of the drug-industry scandals.
