- Abstract
The article offers information on the mechanism and treatment for multiple myeloma. It says that myeloma crowd out healthy plasma cells and interferes the production of other blood cell types and those involved in bone regeneration. It adds that the disease starts as a monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) and shows an excess of M proteins. Meanwhile, treatments like stem-cell transplants and lenalidomide rise life expectancy of myeloma by up to 7-8 years.
