Transgenic grass skirts regulators.
- Authors
Ledford, Heidi
- Abstract
The article focuses on the announcement made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) regarding their authority to regulate genetically modified (GM) crops. It states that Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. is in the stage of developing Kentucky bluegrass, a variety of Poa pratensis which is resistant to glyphosate herbicide. It says that USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack wrote to the lawn-care company to inform that the said grass variety is not covered with the regulations governing other GM crops.
