- Abstract
Introduction: laser tIntroduction: hypertension is one of the diseases with the highest incidence worldwide, causing complications, and with great repercussion in the body. Objective: to characterize the complications that occurred in hypertensive patients who underwent surgery in the maxillofacial surgery service of the Hospital "Dr. León Cuervo Rubio" during 2018. Method: observational, descriptive, longitudinal and prospective study in patients who underwent surgery by specialists from the Hospital "Dr. León Cuervo Rubio" during 2018. A sample of 45 hypertensive patients undergoing surgery for maxillofacial conditions was selected from a universe of 125 patients. Descriptive statistics was used. Results: the preponderant age groups were those from 50 to 59 years (22,22 %) and 60 to 69 years (35,56 %). Dermatological conditions predominated (71,11 %), the most frequent intraoperative complications were hypertension (46,67 %) and bleeding (15,56 %) and the postoperative ones: hypertension (55,56 %) and wound hematoma (11,11 %). Conclusions: It was found that, in male patients, after the sixth decade of life and that they underwent maxillofacial surgery; Intraoperative and postoperative hypertension were common. The main interventions were for dermatological conditions, and in patients with primary arterial hypertension.
