The article discusses the literature on international business (IB) for the last 50 years. The core unit of IB analysis has shifted from country level towards multinational enterprise (MNE) and the firm specific advantages (FSAs) of the parent company. Eventually, the analysis centered on MNE as a network and its subsidiary as a unit of analysis.
