- Abstract
The article presents a research on the geographic distribution of freshwater snail species Uncancylus concentricus also known as ancylids at Ilha Grande island in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil based on the specimens collected from Praia do Sul Biological Reserve. It states that the ancylids were collected with the use of handled metallic scoop for 15 minutes in Praia do Sul Biological Reserve, and were transferred with biotope water in a laboratory for stereomicroscope examination. Findings show that the manifestation of the said species at a constrained habitat away from the continental island could be justified by bird transport which extend its distribution from the biological reserve to Rio de Janeiro state.
