- Abstract
During 2020, millions of people were force to confinment due to the lockdown measures implemented to manage the COVID-19 pandemic. The global health crisis had social, economic, political and emotional effects and disrupted even our most basic and automated routines. In this paper we explore, from a socioanthropological perspective, the uses of technological artifacts and the role of cultural consumption and practices in the daily life of middle class people in Buenos Aires and Montevideo, for the management and reinvention of social relations, in an uncertain context that threatened people's ontological certainties. Thus, we will show the forms taken by cultural practices in order to manage the double threat caused by the saturation of socio-affective ties "inside" the home, and the absence of encounters in co-presence with those "outside". The analysis is based on ethnographic materials produced by a team of researchers, graduate and undergraduate students.
