- Abstract
The article examines the effect of the U.S. Defense of Marriages Act (DOMA) on parent-child relationships, particularly on DOMA's impact on the happy family. It explores on the argument in enacting DOMA such as the U.S. Congress preference to heterosexual marriage due to the deep and abiding interest in responsible procreation and child-rearing. It proceeds to investigate DOMA's legislative history as intended by the U.S. Congress to protect children.
