- Abstract
The authors reflect on the developments of vaccines for the prevention of human papillomavirus (HPV)-driven cancers. They discuss a study of HPV detection in tumors by Saraiya and coauthors which are significant for assessing future vaccine effectiveness in preventing and reducing cancers caused by HPV infection. Also discussed are HPV DNA-based detection, HPV-related oropharyngeal cancers (OPCs), and efforts to reduce the national cancer burden in the U.S.
