- Authors
Schmidt, Charlie
- Abstract
The article examines the impact of the budget sequestration that took effect on March 1, 2013 on cancer research in the U.S. The sequester has resulted in a 250 million U.S. dollar loss to the National Cancer Institute. The budget cuts are also expected to negatively affect basic science in cancer and clinical trials focused on public health more than commercial drug development.
