The article offers information on the lithophones, extremely long cylindrical stone artifacts. It further discusses that guidance by the geologists on how the mineral composition might affect the acoustic qualities of such artifacts; long cylindrical stone artifacts from North America with round-to-oval cross sections have been interpreted, without exception, as utilitarian food processing implements and called pestles; and identical in materials, acoustics & form to prehistoric lithophones.
