"EL NUDO MATRIMONIAL QUE CON VOS, MI SEÑORA, ME HA HECHO UNO": EL CURIOSO CARÁCTER DOMÉSTICO/CONYUGAL DE LA POESÍA AMOROSA DE EUGENIO DE SALAZAR.

- Abstract
This article focuses on the love poetry by Eugenio de Salazar, all of which --throughout the 180 folios of the first part of his Silva de poesía-- is dedicated to his wife, doña Catalina Carrillo. I show that this represents a significant deviation from the Petrarchan model, in which the muse/beloved woman is, fundamentally, an unattainable figure, and I consider how the curious domestic/conjugal nature of his love poetry allows him to introduce ingenious variations into the genre. Specifically, I analyze two poetic series from the first part of the Silva in order to exemplify the great originality that characterizes Salazar's approach to conventional themes in amorous Petrarchism.
