- Abstract
The article discusses a group of tall soldiers called the Potsdam Lifeguards who served Frederick William I of Prussia, in modern-day Germany. It particularly comments on Frederick William I's relations with Great Britain, noting that British King George I sent him tall soldiers as a gift. The author also comments on British men who were kidnapped and held in Prussia, including William Willis and John Evans. The views and actions of British diplomat in Prussia Melchior Guy Dickens are also considered.
