- Abstract
The development of modern human society needs effective leadership that should create a high performance organization. Leaders with high performance possess certain competencies that enable them to practice modern leadership styles. This paper focuses on the psychological factors and competencies that influence high performance leadership. The purpose of the paper is to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and leaders' personality and high performance leadership. The methodology of the research part includes a sample of 63 managers in whom emotional intelligence, personality structure and leadership effectiveness were measured, using standardized psychological tests with self-assessment and a 360-degree assessment by independent evaluators. Findings from correlation and regression analyzes show that a higher level of emotional intelligence is associated with higher leadership effectiveness. The paper confirms the findings of the significant impact of emotional intelligence on high performance leadership. They indicate the need to create and implement educational programs for the development of the competencies of emotional intelligence among leaders.
