- Abstract
The purpose of this research is to find out the educational software interface design choices of university students and the differences in these choices related to their personal characteristics. In this research, participants had the chances to design interfaces which are appropriate and comfortable for themselves. 545 Students taking Information Technology lesson at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart, Dokuz Eylül and Ege Universities' Education Faculties were chosen as the sample. "Correlative Investigation Model" was used in this research. Arithmetic avarege, standard deviation, x² test were used while analysing the data. An interface selection software to determine the instructional software interface design choices was developed by using Adobe Flash software. Participants had opportunities to create their own interface designs up to the their backgound/fore color and visual aid (table, graph, picture) choices. As a result, participants interface design choices differed according to their gender, education departments at university and education field type (numeric, equally-weighted, verbal). While women mostly chose warm and pastel background color tones as pink, light pink and light blue; men mostly chose cold colors as blue and black as notr colors. Moreover, while men mostly chose table, women mostly chose graph as visaul aid.
