- Abstract
The article explores the vocal behavior of Scinax (S) centralis in a rivulet in Floresta Nacional, Silvâcania, Goaiás, Brazil, the influence of individual characteristics on acoustic factors and the role of sound level in aggressive interactions. Male S. centralis emitted few advertisement calls and more aggressive calls during early night vocalizing activity. There were correlations found between the mean intensities of advertisement, long and short aggressive calls, and the number of individuals in the chorus, as well as the mass of the calling male and the snout-vent length. The frequency of advertisement and aggressive calls made by males during playback periods was higher than those made during pre-playback periods.
