- Authors
Jagpal, Aprajita; Saag, Kenneth G
- Abstract
The authors convey their thoughts about using bisphosphonates safely and optimally. The authors noted that osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) is one of the most concerning adverse effects associated with bisphosphonate. The major risk factors for developing ONJ are dental disease, poor dental hygiene, and invasive dental procedures. Atypical femur fracture is said to be another concerning complication of bisphosphonate use that has been widely publicized.
