- Abstract
The media are vectors of representations. If journalists are not aware about the risk of transmitting stereotypes in their productions, they will reinforce the reproduction of stereotypes instead of combating them. Thus, they will be unable to produce fair and balanced information. Journalism educators play a key role in raising the awareness of future journalists. They have to foster comprehension of stereotypes and diversity as well as their impact in the media content. However, their mission is also to be role models and implement this culture of equality and nondiscrimination in their institutions. This text proposes an analysis about educators' responsibility concerning stereotypes and gives some references of efficient tools.
