- Abstract
The coexistence between the port and the city that houses it can be studied from different angles, however the social factor and its link with the development of the young population could be an important element in these times of change. The purpose of the research is to know the perception of the city-port relationship and its link with life satisfaction in university students. The research had a quantitative approach, correlational, with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design; the sample consisted of 433 university students from the constitutional province of Callao, of Lima, Peru. According to the results, there is a median, positive and significant correlation between the two study variables (.38); the first and third dimension of the city-port relationship presented indices of .37 and .43 respectively with life satisfaction; while the impact on the economy obtained a small correlation (.28) with satisfaction. Furthermore, was observed that there are significant differences in both variables with respect to the sociodemographic characteristic of sex, with women obtaining a higher score. Significant differences were also found according to age and time living in Callao. It is concluded that the port-city relationship is related to the satisfaction with life of university students.
