- Abstract
The article focuses on the study which determines the relation of man and African apes. Conducted by University of California-Berkeley scientists Allan C. Wilson and Vincent M. Sarich, the study considers protein clock as an evidence that man and African apes have evolved from a common ancestor only five million years ago. It reveals that, through using the molecular time scale, both African ape and human lineages could be traced to one ancient creature who roamed the world 30 million years ago. The result is duly-supported by protein studies which claim that chimpanzee and human DNA molecule differ only slightly by nine percent in their ability to recognize one another.
