The Silk Mill is one of the most prominent buildings in the north-Hampshire town of Whitchurch, but up to now its original function and date have not been well understood, and its architecture is more complex than it initially appears. Its history has now been elucidated by a combination of documentary sources, architectural observation and deduction, and by considering the history of the site as a whole.
